![]() ![]() In 50 years of traveling to many cities and countries, I had never before experienced such poor service. ![]() They did not receive any response either, so eventually the charge was reversed. I finally had to challenge the charge through my credit card company. Numerous emails and phone calls were ignored. We checked out immediately, requesting a refund for the two nights we had booked but were not staying. We and one other couple sat in the parlor in our winter coats trying to stay worm. Breakfast the next morning was not the continental breakfast that had been advertised, but store-bought cookies and coffee. The sink was cracked and various light switches did not work. But we worried that it would set the room on fire. The person on duty loaned us a space heater - the old kind, with a glowing orange bar - that allowed just enough heat to make the room bearable. This was the coldest day and night in 132 years in San Francisco. When we were able to access the room, the window was open. The person on duty grudgingly allowed us to stow our luggage in the office, which contained the filthiest cat litter box I have ever seen (and I am a cat person). We arrived an hour before check-in (3 pm).
